Manhattan Campus Closed 4/26/2016

Campus is open.

History:

Due to severe weather the K-State Manhattan Campus is CLOSED. Effective immediately all evening classes are CANCELLED for Tuesday, April 26 2016.

Throckmorton and Dairy Barn Network Connectivity Issue

Network connectivity has been restored.

History:
ITS Network staff are working to resolve the network connectivity issues in area's of Throckmorton and the Dairy Barn.

History:
Cox is going to be performing maintenance on the link between the Salina and Manhattan campuses on 4/22/2016, from 12:01am to 6:00am. This will affect network service for approximately an hour during the window. If you have any questions regarding this maintenance, please let me know.

History:
Maintenance will be performed on the VDI environment 4/22 beginning at 7am. Maintenance is expected to last approximately 15 minutes and no disruption is expected.

FIS Login Down

This issue has been resolved.

History:
Users are reporting that they cannot sign into FIS. Active sessions of FIS appear to not be impacted by the sign in issue. ITS is aware of the issue and is working to resolve it.

Email permissions issue

This issue has been resolved.

History:
The IT Help Desk has received a number of calls from users having email access errors concerning permissions. Information Technology Services (ITS) is working to resolve the issue and apologizes for the inconvenience.

Network Maintenance - Durland, Rathbone, and Fiedler Hall - 4/20

The maintenance has been completed.

History:
NTS will be performing UPS maintenance in Durland, Rathbone, and Fiedler Hall, on Wednesday 4/20 from 7am - 7:30am. Both wired and wireless service will be affected for a short time (less than 10 minutes) during the maintenance. Engineering Hall will not be impacted by this maintenance.

Server Upgrade - 4/25/16

History:
ITS is working through enhancements to the SecureAuth servers (email authentication servers). We will post updates to the ITS Status page when we confirm the upgrade dates.

Financial Information System Maintenance

This maintenance has been completed.

History:
The Financial Information System (FIS) will be migrating to the converged infrastructure this weekend. FIS will be taken down at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15th; the migration will start shortly after and should be complete by approximately 5:00 pm Sunday, April 17th. FIS will be available to users at 6:00 a.m. Monday, April 18th.

History:
NTS will be performing switch maintenance in Durland, Rathbone, and Fiedler Hall, on Tuesday 04/12/16 from 10:00 pm to midnight. The maintenance will affect both wired and wireless connectivity. Engineering Hall will not be impacted by this maintenance.

Network Maintenance - 4/6

The Maintenance has been completed.

History:
NTS will be performing network maintenance starting at 10pm on 4/6/16 through 3am on 4/7/16. The following infrastructure will be impacted by this maintenance:
Athletics (wireless)
Danforth Chapel (wired)
First Bank Center (wired)
West Memorial Stadium - Purple Mask (wired)
Library Annex (wired and wireless)
Cardwell (sub-basement wireless)

Users may experience short service outages during the maintenance.

Single Sign On Issues Reported

This issue has been resolved.

History:
Users are getting error messages when trying to sign in to K-State resources. They are receiving either a 502 Bad Gateway error or 503 Service Unavailable error. ITS staff are aware of the issue and are working to resolve it.

Infocommons and Lab Computer issues

This issue has been resolved.

History:

Users are currently experiencing issues with the InfoCommons computers and labs to freeze and not reboot properly. ITS is working on the issue and will provide updates. Please save work frequently to avoid loss.

Content Management System Upgrade - 4/6

This maintenance has been completed.

History:
4/6/16
Omniupdate, our Content Management System (CMS) vendor will be conducting an upgrade of the Live Delivery Platform at 10am CST. There will be a short interruption to CMS form submission during this time.

Canvas Issue

History:
Canvas is currently experiencing problems related to Explorer 11 and Edge browsers on Windows 10. Some students have reported problems submitting assignments when using these browsers. The "SmartScreen Filter" security feature in IE 11 and Edge is flagging Canvas (specifically, components of Canvas to do with assignment submissions) as potentially dangerous.

Canvas engineers are working to fix this problem, but in the meantime we suggest that students switch to another browser like Chrome 47 and 48, Safari 8 and 9, or Firefox 43 and 44.

For students who wish to use IE 11 or Edge, they can turn off the "SmartScreen Filter" by following these steps:
1. Go to "Settings" in IE 11 or Edge
2. Choose "Advanced Settings"
3. Turn off the option labeled "Help protect me from malicious sites and downloads with SmartScreen Filter"

The maintenance has been completed.

History:
Cox will be performing maintenance on the link between the Salina and Manhattan campuses on Friday, April 1st from 2:00am - 5:00am. Cox has classified the maintenance as 'non-impacting', so we do not anticipate any loss of service during this period.
