File Server Maintenance

Maintenance will be performed on the platinum file server from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday morning, April 27. The maintenance will allow us to further expand shared volumes such as workarea. Although no outage is anticipated, active users may be briefly disconnected from the file shares.

University Computing Lab Maintenance

This maintenance is complete.

History:


Beginning at 6:30am Friday,April 18 the servers for the Hale Library Info Commons and University Computing Labs will be rebooted. Users using the labs during this time should only notice a brief 1-2 second pause as the servers fail over. Maintenance should be completed by 7:00am.

Firewall Maintenance on the Olathe Campus

This maintenance has been completed.

Tonight, 4/16, between 10 PM and 11 PM, the Olathe firewalls will be upgraded to address vulnerabilities.  We will also be upgrading the AnyConnect client for vpn access. There are no anticipated service outages due to this maintenance, however, there is always a possibility of network service loss between the Olathe and Manhattan campuses if problems arise. Please let us know if there are any questions or concerns.

Network Maintenance - Power Plant

This maintenance has been completed.

Tuesday, April 15 2014, 4:20 p.m.

The Network Team will be performing maintenance on the Power Plant border router on Thursday, April 17th, from 9 p.m.-midnight.  We will be powering down the chassis to adjust an on-board battery.  We will also install a new 10Gb fiber connection between the Hale and Power Plant border routers.  Users can expect short disruptions in access between campus and internet during this maintenance.

Network maintenance is scheduled to start at 10pm Saturday, April 12, 2014  through  1am Sunday, April 13, 2014.  K-Staters may experience intermittent connectivity to the Internet as well as short disruptions to VPN service.

Emergency Network maintenance

This maintenance has been completed.

The Network Group will be performing emergency maintenance on the wireless controllers tonight (4/10), from 9:00pm to midnight.  The reason for the maintenance is to apply necessary patches for the OpenSSL vulnerabilities that were announced earlier this week.  The maintenance will affect the Manhattan and Olathe campuses.  Users can expect periodic outages in wireless service, as the upgrades are applied.

Heartbleed Vulnerability

 Information Technology Services is conducting scans of the network to identify vulnerable sites and working with K-State's system administrators to remediate the vulnerability.
