Network Maintenance - Upgrade to Data Center routers and firewalls

 The maintenance has been completed.

May 27, 6:40 p.m.
Network and Telecommunication Services and IT Security will be performing maintenance on Wednesday, May 28th from 9pm - midnight on the data center 6509 routers and firewalls. This maintenance is to complete the upgrade of the data center software, that was started over Spring Break. Service disruptions to the data center resources are anticipated at various points in the upgrade, while the devices fail over to the standby units and are rebooted to the new code. Network Maintenance - Hale Border router and Hale Border Firewall

The maintenance has been completed


Network and Telecommunication Services will be performing maintenance in the Hale core room Wednesday, May 28th from 6pm - 9 pm.  The Hale border router and Hale border firewall will be powered down and moved to an adjacent rack in the frame room, and then powered back on.  These devices are the standby units for our KanRen peering to the internet.  Power Plant is our active peering point.  So no network service disruption is anticipated during this maintenance.  If you have any questions, please let us know at

CMS Upgrade

The CMS migration has been completed.

Hale Library Closed 6pm on May 30th to 8am on June 2nd

 This work has been completed and Hale Library is open.

 Thursday, May 22 2014 8:39p.m.
Hale Library will be closed due to work associated with foundation construction beginning at 6pm on Friday, May 30th. The building will re-open at 8am Monday, June 2.  During this time, staff also will be unable to enter Hale Library.  The Data Center will be running on generator power and we anticipate no downtime. 
NOTE: There will be an increase in noise level from the generator, outside of Hale during this time. The IT Help Desk will be available from a remote site, please call 785-532-7722.  For the Operations Center, please call 785-532-0002.

Trend Micro maintenance begins Monday, May 19th

This maintenance has been completed. 

The central Trend Micro servers will be upgraded to 10.6 SP3 and Patch 1.1 throughout this week following the schedule below:

KSU-OS02 - Monday
KSU-OS03 - Tuesday
KSU-OS01 - Wednesday (morning)
KSU-OS04 - Thursday

Clients attached to each server will update as they connect to the server. This may require a reboot.

Network Maintenance - Thursday, May 22nd

This maintenance has been completed. 

The Network Team will be performing maintenance on the core and West Hall routers on Thursday, May 22nd, from 9:00pm to midnight. All network connectivity on the main campus, Residence Halls, Jardine, Salina, and Olathe will be affected for periods of up to 30 minutes during the maintenance window. Network Maintenance - EDUROAM service

The maintenance has been completed.

The Network Group will be working with the Aruba vendor from 1:00 - 5:00pm today on necessary changes to our ClearPass appliance.  Some of the changes will be disruptive to the eduroam service.  If you know of a visitor that is trying to connect through the eduroam ssid, please refer them to the KSU Guest wireless.  Also let them know KSU Guest is not encrypted.  So they may want to take the precaution of initiating a vpn through their home network, if they are needing secure connections.

Currently, we have no K-Staters authenticating from off-campus. If a user reports issues, ask them to check whether Guest wireless is available in the remote institution.  The user can connect to guest and initiate a vpn tunnel back to our campus.  Instructions for initiating the vpn can be found at   In order to insure all communication is encrypted, select the KStateVPNFull_Tunnel  profile, when initiating the vpn.
