Isilon Boot Drive Replacement Maintenance - Wed 8/31

This maintenance has been completed. 

History:
EMC will be here tomorrow at 3 pm (8/31/16) to replace a failed boot drive in node1 of the Isilon cluster. Connections on node one will be moved to other nodes during this maintenance since the node will have to be powered off to replace the internal boot drive.

Content Mangement System Down

This issue has been resolved.

History:

The Content Management System (CMS) is down this morning for administrators due to an OmniUpdate server issue. OmniUpdate is working to resolve the problem, but for now users cannot log in.

Phishing Scam - Meeting Notification

Phishing scam - Meeting Notification hitting user's email accounts this morning. Clicking on the URL and going to the website will allow the site to download malware to your computer. URL is blocked on the K-State Network and by Trend Micro Antivirus. If you accessed the website please run a malware scan on your computer to remove anything harmful that may have been installed.

Security maintenance - Colby, BRI, Athletics 8/24

The maintenance has been competed for BRI.

History:
The BRI upgrade was completed.  The Colby and Athletics will be re-scheduled for another time.

August 24th, between 10 PM and midnight, we will be upgrading firewalls in Colby, BRI, and Athletics, as well as the management application to apply fixes.  There will be service disruptions to each of these areas as the upgrade is completed.  If you have questions, please e-mail security@ksu.edu .

Beware of Phishing Scams

ITS has seen an increased number of phishing scams being reported by users. Phishing scams are emails that ask for users to "Verify your email now" or "Click here to reactivate your password".

Kansas State University will never ask you for your password in an email or a survey. If you receive an email asking to verify your account, reactivate your password, or anything else that looks suspicious please forward the email to abuse@ksu.edu.  If you have questions, please call the IT Help Desk at 785-532-7722.

History:

The scammer then takes the information that the user filled into the form and compromises the user's account.

Network Maintenance - Bluemont Hall - Wed 8/17

This maintenance has been completed.

History:
NTS will be performing network maintenance in Bluemont Hall on August 17th, 2016 from 10pm to midnight. During the maintenance, both wired and wireless connections throughout the building will be affected for a short period while the switches reboot.

Advisories to be upgraded 8/18/16 @ 7pm

This maintenance has been completed.

History:
Advisories will be upgraded Thursday at 7pm. No downtime is expected. A brief test advisory will be posted on Connect, the K-State mobile app, and the Salina, Olathe, and main K-State homepages. A push notification from the mobile app will not be sent during the test. Advisories is the application that pushes and brokers K-State Alerts emergency messages to K-State websites and the mobile app.

This issue has been resolved.

History:

Users are currently unable to change their passwords in eProfile. The K-State IT Help Desk is also unable to change users passwords. ITS staff are aware of the issue and are working to resolve it.

Isilon Maintenance - 8/12

 The maintenance has been completed.

History:
Friday, August 12th at 6 PM the Isilon storage system will be upgraded to address some known issues ITS experienced. This will be an online upgrade, but there may be some momentary interruptions to catfiles and NFS shares as the connections move between nodes.

PaperCut Upgrade - Wed Aug 10

This maintenance has been completed.

History:

At 7am on Wednesday August 10, IT staff will be performing an upgrade to the PaperCut system. Printing will be unavailable during this time. The upgrade is expected to be completed by 7:30am

Phone cable replacement project: August 11th - 14th

 This maintenance has been completed.

History:
Networking and Telecommunications Services needs to replace cable that was damaged last year when the steam tunnels were flooded. While a fix has been in place, the work occurring next weekend will permanently repair the cable. Repairs will occur outside of normal working hours and will only affect telephone lines and not data connections.

Work begins on Thursday, August 11 at 5 p.m. The first building to be repaired will be Anderson Hall. Service work will be completed during the evening and telephones in Anderson Hall will be back in operation by 8 a.m. Friday morning. Phone cable replacement will continue after 5 p.m. on Friday, August 12 and run through the weekend.

All phones should be operational by 8 a.m. Monday morning, August 15. If users experience any outages after these repairs, please call the repair line at 532-7111. Updates will be posted on the www.ksu.edu/its/status page.

Computer Lab Maintenance - 08/03

History:
On Wednesday, August 3rd all centrally supported computer labs will be unavailable from 6am to 8am for maintenance. Affected labs are Hale Library, Dickens 001, and Seaton 022.

Due to server maintenance, computer labs in Dickens 001, Seaton 022, and Hale Library 24HR study may be unavailable from 6:00pm-10:00pm on Friday August 5.

This maintenance has been completed.

History:

Tomorrow morning, August 4th, 2016, at 7 am, we will be upgrading our Rocket Chat server to the latest version. There will be a brief outage. Please quit and restart your Rocket Chat Client after that time.
