We are currently experiencing some connectivity issues with some services that rely upon AWS. AWS has stated on their status page that there are problems that they are investigating. No ETA is available for return of normal services

Manhattan Campus Phones are Down (12/15/2021)

The phones on the Manhattan Campus are currently down. This is an AT&T issue and we are working with the vendor to restore services as quickly as possible.

Duo Services Unavaliable 12/15/2021

Issue is resolved.

 

Duo services are currently experiencing issues with time outs and access issues.  Our administrators are aware of the situation and are working to alleviate the situation.

Perceptive Content Maintenance (12/15/2021)

The patching of the Perceptive Content Production Environment, scheduled for 6-7 pm this evening, Wed Dec 15, is being postponed to a later date, on account of fluctuating power due to high winds.

Canvas Issues (12/09/2021)

When using Chrome on a Windows computer, you may experience issues loading Canvas pages. If specific pages are blank for you, please try a different browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge. If you continue to experience issues with alternative browsers, contact the IT Help Desk at 785-532-7722.

Canvas Maintenance (12/16/2021)

 Canvas will have a maintenance event from 12-2 a.m. on Thursday, December 16. Canvas will be unavailable for up to one minute during the maintenance.

Mediasite Maintenance (01/06/2022)

AWS Issues (12/07/2021)

The AWS issues have been resolved.

History:

We are currently experiencing issues with services using AWS. We are looking into this issue and will provide more information as it becomes available.

Updates: It appears that this issue is effecting canvas.k-state.edu, user are experiencing long load times or connection errors.

Teval is also down as a result of AWS Issues and Canvas being down.

Omni CMS Maintenance(12/01/2021)

OmniUpdate (K-State CMS) Notice: This Thursday at 5:30 p.m. PT, Omni CMS will undergo planned maintenance for our 2021.3 release. Omni CMS will not be available to SaaS customers for an estimated 90 minutes. Global search and Personalization will not be available until 8:30 p.m. PT.

Planned maintenance affects the CMS only. While you will not be able to edit pages or access the system, your live website will remain up and unaffected. Published pages containing Personalization and Omni CMS Calendar will remain up and will load without this content.

Emergency wireless maintenance(11/15/2021)

This maintenance has been completed.

History:

NTS will be performing emergency wireless maintenance on Monday 11/15/21 from 10:00pm to 11:00pm.  This maintenance will impact main campus and remote wireless users for 15 to 20 minutes during the maintenance period.  This maintenance will not impact service in the residence halls, Jardine Apartments, and the Athletics complex.

Salina Firewalls Upgrade (11/03/2021)

This maintenance has been completed. The core upgrade was done at 8:26 PM and Salina at 9:11 PM.

History:

We will be upgrading the core and Salina firewalls this evening, November 3, between 8 PM and 10 PM.  The core will be upgraded between 8 PM and 9 PM, and Salina will be upgraded between 9 PM and 10 PM.  No service disruptions are anticipated as a result of this maintenance.

DHCP Server Maintenance (11/7/2021)

This maintenance has been completed 

History:

On Sunday (11/7/2021) from 6:00AM - 8:00AM Networking will be performing a software upgrade on the campus DHCP Servers.  This service is designed for redundancy and we do not anticipate any impact to user network connectivity during this maintenance.

M365 Status issue: Unable to access files via SharePoint, OneDrive for Business, Teams, M365 apps

Microsoft has identified the problem and applied a potential fix.  Please let us know if you can or cannot access your files.

There is a known issue with users trying to access files stored in the services: SharePoint, OneDrive for Business, Teams, M365 apps

EID Creation and Password issues

The issue has been resolved.

History:

We are currently experiencing issues with the creation of EID's and Password Changes, the error continuously loads and then presents a "504 Gateway error". More information will be posted here when it becomes available.

Firewall Maintenance (10/28/2021)

This maintenance has been completed.

This evening, October 28th, between 8 PM and midnight, we will be performing software upgrades on the border firewalls.  We do not anticipate any service disruptions due to this maintenance.

Intermittent temporarily FIS login issues

This issue has been remedied.

History:

We are seeing widespread FIS logon issues with errors like "Authentication Failed" or "Cannot link user specified".  Please contact the Help Desk to open a ticket and provide the error and/or screenshot of the error.

Commons Public Labs Printing Issue (10/09/2021)

Printing from the black and white printers located in the Info Commons public labs and other service locations may not be working correctly from the public lab computers and through Web Print. The Division of IT is working to resolve the printing issues.

Temporary Webmail Service Degredation

Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021, 5:39 a.m. update:

Microsoft has identified the root cause and have implemented a fix.  They will continue to monitor their servers until the service has a full recovery.

 

Issue started at 5:42 pm Monday Oct. 4 2021.

Some users may be unable to access Outlook on the web or use some features across Microsoft 365 services.   Microsoft is aware of the issue and are working towards a solution. 

Salina Internet Services Maintenance(9/30/21)

This maintenance has been completed.

 

History:

Emergency maintenance on fiber between the Salina and Manhattan campuses will occur Thursday morning (9/30/21) between 12:01am and 6:00am.  This will impact Salina campus access to Manhattan campus resources and internet services during the maintenance window.

Network Maintenance - Salina Campus (09/23/2021)

Circuit providers will be performing software upgrades on equipment serving the connection between the Salina and Manhattan campuses on Thursday September 23, 2021, from 12:01am to 6:00am.  During the maintenance, users on the Salina campus will see a brief outage in connectivity to resources on the Manhattan campus and to the internet.

VPN Maintenance(09/12/2021)

The vpn connection from campus to AWS will be migrating to a new connection type during a maintenance window from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 12. Back office connections to AWS such as Webmethods will be interrupted during this time. The cutover should not affect end users.

AiM 12.0.1 Production Upgrade (09/13/2021)

This maintenance has been completed.

Assetworks our hosted provider for the Facilities AiM system will be upgrading our production instance to version 12.0.1 from 5 pm to 6 pm on September 13th.

GlobalProtect VPN Maintenace (09/08/2021)

 History:

Today, between 5:00 PM and 5:15 PM, we will be updating the GlobalProtect client to the latest vendor-preferred release.  When you establish a GlobalProtect session after the maintenance window, you will be prompted to download the new client, and after downloading it, to install it.

Athletics Firewall Maintenance (05/22/2021)

History:

Saturday evening, May 22nd, between 9 and 10 PM, we will be upgrading the software on the  Athletics firewall.  As this was scheduled with Athletics IT staff, no posting needs to be made.  Just sending this as an FYI of a change going on.

IT will be performing maintenance on Mediasite's search service index beginning 9 p.m. Friday, 5/21/2021. The maintenance is expected to last through the weekend. Firewall maintenance (05/19/2021)

We will be performing some maintenance to gather information for a support case we have open for the Palo Alto firewalls at our border between 8 PM and 9 PM this evening.  The work is not anticipated to cause any service disruptions. 

WebMethods Transition 5/19/2021

Transition has been completed.

History:

WebMethods will transition to new servers and a new 10.5 version Wednesday, May 19, 8-10 am. There is no expected downtime and all processes will continue to flow.

Network maintenance will be performed on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 from 12:01am to 1:30am.  This maintenance will impact internet traffic to and from the Manhattan, Polytechnic, and Olathe campuses.  Users can expect two brief outages (under 1 minute each) during the maintenance window.

KSU Phone System Emergency Maintenance 4/29/2021

The maintenance has been completed.

NTS will be performing emergency maintenance on the phone system tonight (4/29/21) from 9pm to 10pm.  The maintenance will impact all phone services on the Manhattan campus, and long-distance services on the Olathe and Polytechnic campuses.   We anticipate phones will lose connectivity for approximately 5 minutes during the maintenance period.  Voicemail will also be affected during this time.

Outlook Signatures Working Improperly (04/23/2021)

 

Final status: We've confirmed that the fix has successfully completed deployment throughout the affected environment and we've verified with affected users that this action has alleviated the problem.

Root cause: A recent Outlook on the web update introduced a code issue, resulting in the impact.

Next steps: - We're reviewing our update validation and testing processes to better identify similar code issues impacting email signatures to prevent similar problems from happening again in the future.

More info: Users with email signatures already attached notice that the signature isn't appearing when creating new emails.
 
Users may also notice that options "Automatically include my signature on new messages that I compose" and "Automatically include my signature on messages I forward or reply to" are appearing as unchecked after refreshing.
 
Current status: The provided network trace logs were inconclusive as there weren't any identifiable errors seen. We're reaching out to additional users to provide additional logging for further review.

Canvas Upgrade 4/10/2021

 Canvas will perform a database upgrade to the SCORM LTI from 3-4 a.m. Saturday, April 10. Only the SCORM components will be affected; the rest of Canvas will be available during the upgrade.

Network Maintenace 3/25/2021

 Maintenance has been Completed

 

History:

IT will perform network maintenance on one of the fiber paths into the Manhattan campus from 12:01-6 a.m. on Thursday, March 25. The majority of the Manhattan, Olathe, and Polytechnic campuses will experience a brief outage in internet connectivity as traffic is directed to a secondary path.

Manufacturing Learning Center, the National Gas Machine Lab, and the Environmental Research Lab will experience an extended outage of up to three hours during the maintenance window. The maintenance will improve overall fiber plant design and connectivity to these three buildings.

When the fiber work is completed, there will be a second brief outage as internet traffic is re-directed to the primary path. To report issues after the maintenance is completed, submit a ticket via helpdesk@ksu.edu or send email to network@ksu.edu.

Microsoft 365 Issues (03/15/2021)

Microsoft is currently experiencing issues with multiple services, this posting will be updated as more information becomes available.

 M365 Status:

Microsoft is investigating an issue for access to multiple M365 services. We'll provide additional information here as it becomes available

M365 Status:

Microsoft's Initial reports indicate that primary impact is to Microsoft Teams; however, other services including Exchange Online and yammer are also impacted.
