Canvas Upgrade 4/10/2021

 Canvas will perform a database upgrade to the SCORM LTI from 3-4 a.m. Saturday, April 10. Only the SCORM components will be affected; the rest of Canvas will be available during the upgrade.

Network Maintenace 3/25/2021

 Maintenance has been Completed

 

History:

IT will perform network maintenance on one of the fiber paths into the Manhattan campus from 12:01-6 a.m. on Thursday, March 25. The majority of the Manhattan, Olathe, and Polytechnic campuses will experience a brief outage in internet connectivity as traffic is directed to a secondary path.

Manufacturing Learning Center, the National Gas Machine Lab, and the Environmental Research Lab will experience an extended outage of up to three hours during the maintenance window. The maintenance will improve overall fiber plant design and connectivity to these three buildings.

When the fiber work is completed, there will be a second brief outage as internet traffic is re-directed to the primary path. To report issues after the maintenance is completed, submit a ticket via helpdesk@ksu.edu or send email to network@ksu.edu.

Microsoft 365 Issues (03/15/2021)

Microsoft is currently experiencing issues with multiple services, this posting will be updated as more information becomes available.

 M365 Status:

Microsoft is investigating an issue for access to multiple M365 services. We'll provide additional information here as it becomes available

M365 Status:

Microsoft's Initial reports indicate that primary impact is to Microsoft Teams; however, other services including Exchange Online and yammer are also impacted.

M365 Status: 

Microsoft confirmed that this issue could be affecting users worldwide. Additional information can be found at http://status.office.com

M365 Status:

Microsoft identified an issue with a recent change to an authentication system. We're rolling back the update to mitigate impact, which we expect will take approximately 15 minutes. Additional information can be found at http://status.office.com

M365 Status: 

The process to roll back the change is taking longer than expected. Microsoft will provide an ETA as soon as one becomes available.

M365 Status:

Microsoft is current rolling out a mitigation worldwide. Customers should begin seeing recovery at this time, and we anticipate full remediation within 60 minutes.

M365 Status:

Microsoft has finished deploying the update to all impacted regions. Microsoft is continuing to monitor service health status. Additional information can be found at http://status.office.com.

HRIS, KSIS, and DARS will be unavailable after 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, thru Sunday afternoon, Feb. 28. During this time, HRIS and KSIS will be upgraded to PeopleTools 8.57 and 19C Database.

Rolling power outages may impact access to services

 Issue has been Resolved

History:

 Beginning on February 15 at 12:15 p.m., Evergy began to turn off electricity to blocks of customers for approximately 30 – 60 minutes and then restore electricity. This action puts our IT Change process into an elevated risk state. Please avoid making changes to customer-facing production servers or services to minimize potential risks that may impact students, faculty, and staff during this time. The rolling power outages continue and we are anticipating the change freeze to be in effect through Friday, Feb. 19. We will post an update when the situation changes.

 
History:
In response to the extreme winter weather conditions, Evergy is using controlled rolling blackouts to manage demand for electrical power. The outages will last 30-60 minutes.

In addition to the power outages, the Division of Information Technology may need to shut down services temporarily. As a result, you may experience campus-based computing and network services outages. K-Staters are reminded to frequently save their work. Emergency communication services are not affected.

Campus Power Outage 2/16/2021

Evergy posted that they have lifted the order and intermittent power outages have been suspended at this time.

 Evergy began shutting down power to campus at 9:30 a.m. The company has stated that the outage will last about two to fours hours, however, no specific time has been given to restore power.  The Division of Information Technology may need to shut down services during the outage and you may experience campus-based computing and network services outages. K-Staters are reminded to frequently save their work. Emergency communication services are not affected. Updates will be posted here.

History:

MediaSite Maintenance 02/05/2021

This maintenance has been completed ahead of schedule.

History:

To accommodate system maintenance, email notifications from Mediasite will be disabled all day on Friday, February 5, 2021. This means, for example, Mediasite will not send an email when an uploaded video has completed processing. All other functions of Mediasite (recording, upload, playback, etc.) will remain operational.

We are planning to upgrade ServiceNow to the Paris release tomorrow, Tuesday, February 2nd in the morning. It should be finished before 5AM. As with all ServiceNow upgrades, this is an automated process and no downtime is anticipated.

Polytechnic Campus Maintenance 01/16/2021

 NTS will be performing network maintenance on the Polytechnic campus, Saturday 1/16/21, from 9am - 5pm.  The team will be upgrading core infrastructure.  This work will disrupt both wired and wireless services  at various times during the maintenance window.

NTS Maintenance 1/14/2021

 The Maintenance has been completed.

History

NTS will be performing network maintenance to the wireless network equipment that supports connectivity in the following locations:

K-State Athletics Complex

K-State Campus (Manhattan)

K-State Campus (Olathe)


This maintenance will begin Thursday January 14th 2021 at 7:00 PM and is expected to finish before Friday January 15th at 7:00 AM.  Brief outages can be expected during this timeframe across these locations.

K-State Web Pages Maintenance 1/7/2020

 

The migration has been completed.

History

UPDATE: There were a few issues with the K-State web page migration project. Publishing has been turned back on. We will provide an update with new dates/times for the migration as soon as possible.

The K-State web pages are migrating to the cloud. Publishing to the web pages will be unavailable from 5 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, through 8 a.m. Thursday, January 7. The web pages will be available throughout the migration; only publishing will be unavailable. The migration will not affect the look or the function of the K-State website.
